Hi everyone, I applied to UIUC as a biology major but was put into DGS. I read that it’s possible to declare a major after your freshman year. Is it possible for me to declare as a biology major after my first year if I have enough AP credits?
Also, Do they look at your high school record if you want to declare a major after your freshman year?
You can request transfer from DGS to LAS and the biology major as early as about mid-semester, second semester freshman year, when applications for entry into LAS for sophomore year need to be submitted. You need to get approval to apply from the applicable biology school, you need to take certain courses freshman year that first year freshman biology majors are usually required to take, and if applying for entry into sophomore year, high school record is a consideration in determining whether your request will be granted since only college grades though first semester, freshman year will be available when a decision is made.
