Hi,

I am a sophomore at NYU - College of Arts and Sciences and I'm looking to transfer out.
There are several reasons why, the main being the ****ty financial aid. The others are just that I feel lost on campus (even though I have a large circle of friends) and sometimes I feel like it's just not worth it.

I was wondering where I could apply to transfer and have some hope of getting in. I've had various medical and psychological complications over the past year and a half and they have affected my GPA adversely.

I was a great student in high school (in India - I am a US citizen though, born here), I took two different sets of high school examinations (like one was the GCE A levels and one was an Indian board of examinations) and I was editor of the paper, I worked as an assistant teacher for sometime. I was on student council, an important figure in my high school. I freelanced for a huge newspaper and things were going very well.

I came to NY and things started to unravel. The ****ty advisors at NYU screwed up my transcript by making me drop a course mid semester without telling me that I couldn't take another one instead (weird...). All the classes I took are rigorous, I have a B+ average in core classes and an A average in classes otherwise. I had an internship at an NGO over the summer and I worked as a research assistant at stern school of business at NYU this Fall. I am also working on a social entrepreneurship project in India which I conceived over the summer and have been working on ever since. We are entered into a competition and I'm currently writing grant proposals to send to foundations and companies.

My GPA is 3.598 (this shall go down soon, I had to take an incomplete on the previous semester because I was so beat up) and my SAT scores were 770 reading, 710 math.

I had applied to a whole medley of colleges back in high school, mainly because I didn't really know anything about any of them. I am an Economics and Psych major, I am very interested in Dramatic Literature besides.

I don't know where I'd apply. I love New York and my first choice would be Columbia, but I don't think I'd get in. Do any of you have any suggestions for me? I kind of only want to transfer if I know I'm getting into an equally good/better school where I can do well and be happy.

Sorry for the wordiness, I just had a lot to clarify! I hope some of you can comment =]

(PS I am eligible for financial aid, in case anyone was wondering...)
