I was just wondering - can you actually do it?

I had been asked if it was possible to trasfer between public high schools, and I have to admit, I am curious to know as well. The thought has crossed my mind more than once (for various reasons) yet I have never been able to get a definate answer on this.

If I was interested in trying to do this (and if its possible), what options would I have to change schools? I know that you can actually move to a home within that other school district - but that seems a bit extreme. Are there any other alternatives to this? And if so, how would it affect your ability to compete in varsity sports at that school? I play some sports, and if it were possible to transfer I would like to be able to continue to be active in them.

Most likely not. The only situation that I know that would allow it is if the school that you're trying to transfer out of has lost it's accreditation and has passed its probation period. At that period, the school is then put onto a "voucher system" of sorts, in which students can choose to stay or go to a different nearby public school.

No, I don't. I'm in SC - schools are a bit more spread out here I think (and probably not half as tough). Anyways, I was searching through some of the older posts on the forum and saw where someone mentioned a "Transfer Request Form". Does anyone know anything about this? And where could I find more information on it?

Thanks for the help so far and any more in advance.
