I’m a high school senior right now but my high school career was a little rocky to start. I was pretty lazy freshman and sophomore year and ended those with ~3.3 GPA. Through senior year though I have gotten it up to the low to mid 3.5 range on the strength of near 4.0 GPA’s the rest of the way. I did decently well on the SATs, getting a 1330 (CR+M)/1990. I’ve gotten into a couple of schools and want to go into business and depending on the money will likely go to either Ohio State or Bentley University. Only problem is that the University of Virginia has always been my dream school. I didn’t apply this year but my question is if I get as close to a 4.0 as possible freshman year at one of those schools, would the low high school GPA be phased out by it enough to get me admitted?
I guess what I’m really asking is if I transferred after freshman year and they saw one semester of very strong college GPA coupled with a strong high school GPA, would they overlook my poor overall high school career even at such a strong school?
