Transferring to a 4 year next year

Hey all, after this upcoming school year I'll be done with my 2 years at a CC. I plan on transferring to a 4 year, but I don't want to live at home next season. I doubt I'll be able to do a year of dorms, being a junior and all, so I'd probably have to find an apartment with students that go to the school. What do you think my best course of action would be? I was thinking of posting on the school's facebook page around the end of first semester (After talking w/ counselors i'm pretty much guaranteed to get in) and asking if people are looking for roommates. I'd also like to try and meet some new people before next year. Any advice would be awesome.

Hmm, kind of hard to meet people when you don’t go to that school so I understand that your situation is kind of weird.

I would say look for housing around January 2014. In my area, this is usually the time when students start signing leases for the upcoming school year. Some complexes have the option of being randomly paired with a roommate which is what you can try to do. It will probably be another transfer who doesn’t know anyone as well.

Other than that, maybe you can see if you are still in touch with high school friends that go to your school and start hanging around them and meeting new people so you can maybe find someone.

Otherwise the Facebook/Craigslist route will be your best bet. GL!

Depending on where you plan to transfer to, dorming might actually be an option. Some schools have dorms (or apartment-style dorms) reserved for upper division and transfer students.

^ Second it. I’d look at the areas around the school and see if they are school-affiliated as well. At my old school, we had an apartment complex that was about a 10 min drive from school and had discounts for our students.

You can also visit campus and check bulletin board postings. Our student union has one and a lot of times people are looking for roomies on it. That, and we have a fb page dedicated to it.
