So, I live in a very small/poor county. The high schools here aren’t very good (according to their test scores), they’re small and don’t have many great teachers. The high school I am attending now has maybe just above 550 students with 30 individuals as the staff, including teachers. Also, the math departments are lacking from what I’ve seen and went through. The math teachers don’t teach very well, they just don’t explain the concepts (there’s only two math teachers currently). Plus the high school is actually in debt LOL, I believe they fired their superintendent just this year because of how badly they were bringing down the school. Anyway, I have been given the opportunity to actually go to a different high school, one with 2,000 students. One that is 4 hours away from my home. This high school has many options compared to the other high school, and better test scores. However, if I were to go I would be staying with a very close friend of mines family. That friend probably wouldn’t be attending the high school if I were to go though, she is currently home schooling. That means I would have to leave my little town and venture into a huge school (well, for me) without knowing anybody, and I wouldn’t have family around… I’m pretty torn of what I should do. I would LOVE to get a better education, but I’m just really confused right now… help? By the way I’m a freshman currently, so I have some time to think about this stuff.
If you think you can handle being away from your family, then I would do it.
