I'm unhappy at my current college and do not see things looking up anytime soon. I'm planning to transfer to another college next fall. Would it be okay for me to transfer to a community college for second semester of this year to save money, then transfer to another college at the beginning of next fall? Or would that look inconsistent and therefore bad to grad schools?

Thank you!

Anyone? Also, how do I know I’ll pick the right college to transfer to? I’m really confused. I think I have horrible intuition when it comes to choosing the right school, because my current experience has ended up being a flop. I don’t know how I’m ever going to find the right college for me.

First you have to analyze why the current choice of school is unacceptable and if there is any redeem values. You only have been ther for few weeks, perhaps its too early to make the judgement. If after careful consideration, you still want to take the CC route, I think you should plan to stay with your decision for two years before you transfer to a 4 year college.

It’s November and I still don’t ever see things getting better at the school I’m currently at… still too early? I just don’t like the atmosphere, the location, the types of students, the class sizes, etc. I’m hopelessly disappointed with the decision I’ve made in coming here.
When you say “stay with your decision for two years”, do you technically mean one and a half years, until the end of next year’s spring semester?

Two of Happykid’s friends did this last year. They both were miserable at their first universities. One was so unhappy that she ended up failing all some of her classes!

Both are planning to transfer at the end of this year. Neither tried to transfer after only a semester at the CC, but other students have. For specific advice in your situation, contact the Transfer Advisor at your CC.

Good luck!

Yes, technically, you should prepare to attend a 4 year college in your Jr. year. Just my opinion.
