Transferring to a more prestigious school...what are my chances?

Hey guys.
I've been looking into transferring to a more prestigious college for undergraduate. I am wondering if I am jumping the gun on this, seeing as though I am only half way through my Freshman semester at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

I am looking to transfer somewhere cool...considerations are Stanford, UChicago, NYU, maybe any ivies? I don't even know if this is a remote possibility given my stats.

So far, I have a 4.0 at UIUC, with 2 A+'s and 16 total credit hours taken at the university itself. I am also an intern for a State Senator and I work on music staff at the student-run radio station (both are volunteer work, for no pay).

My high school stats, however, are less than stellar, with a 3.76 UW GPA and a 32 ACT Score.

Please let me know if I should even consider applying as a transfer applicant...or if I have no chance.

Well, first of all, why do you want to transfer? UIUC is a very good school both academically and prestige-wise.

Second, have you checked whether the schools you are considering transferring to accept a non-trivial number of transfer students, and what their criteria for transfer admission are? Also, don’t forget to consider cost and financial aid implications (Stanford is generous with financial aid, but NYU is the opposite).

Don’t bother applying to Stanford, almost no chance at UChicago, and a pretty good shot at NYU. I’m not sure why you were planning on applying to two schools ranked #5 and then one school ranked #33. Might want to look at some other ones in between there.
