Transferring to a top notch institution.

Hello, I currently attend University of Illinois -Urbana Champaign as a freshman. I know the school is really good and I like the system here but it wasn’t really my top 5 choice college that I wanted to attend. So after the end of my freshman year I am thinking of transferring. I know that grade is really important but how important is course rigour?

Major: Kinesiology and minoring in Biology

Courses for first semester:

  • Kinesiology: Physical activity and health
  • Kinesiology Orientation
  • James Scholar of Kinesiology
  • General Chemistry I
  • Molecular Biology (One of the hardest biology course)

Total of 16 credit.

Should I take 18 credit to demonstrate that I have challenged myself or should I just remain with 16 credit? Thank You~

  1. It is extremely difficult to transfer into top notch institutions (I'm assuming you mean top 20 schools).
  2. You need to show how Urbana as a school does not have the resources to meet your needs, and how the specific institution you're applying to has the resources for your ambitions and goals.

18 credits and 16 credits: That will not matter that much. What’s important is GPA and number 2.

Make sure your grammar is correct if you decide to transfer.
What happened to your plurals? Credits.
Transfers are very difficult to gain entry.

Top 20 universities don’t generally offer majors in kinesiology. Transfer students also will get meager financial aid.
