Transferring to Cal/UCLA for biochemistry without physics?

Hello! I am currently at a community college majoring in biochemistry and planning to take 3 years to transfer (hopefully to a high UC), but I realized I can transfer in 2 years if I don’t take the year long physics sequence. According to Berkeley, it is highly recommended, but not required. And the UC website states:

“Some of UC’s molecular biology majors also require one year of calculus-based physics with lab (not trigonometry-based physics) and/or one term of statistics before graduation from UC. You can complete these courses at your community college if your schedule allows, but you can also complete them after transfer without negatively affecting your competitiveness for admission to UC.”

I don’t know if this statement would apply to the higher UCs that are more competitive. Should I still try to apply this fall, making my transfer time 2 years overall, or should I wait to transfer when physics is done? Also, with the plan to transfer in 2 years, I will not have my 3rd quarter of ochem finished until the summer right before transfer. Overall, how disadvantaged of an applicant would this make me? And if I got rejected, would I just be able to apply again after I finished physics?

Thanks for your help!
