I applied to Harvard early action, got deferred and then rejected. I was wondering whether it would be wise to apply as a transfer. How important are high school grades, especially if your senior record is a bit lower than the preceding three year academic performance in high school? Is your first semester in college worth a lot more?

All experienced members please help me. I wanted to go to Harvard since I was seven. Thank you in advance for your help. Greatly appreciated.

Your high school record will still be really important if you want to transfer as a sophomore. They dont weigh your high school records as much if you plan on matriculating as a junior since you have 4 semesters worth of college work.

I applied early-action to Harvard as well, got deferred and I am still waiting to hear. I have 27 credits at the college level- not including AP! They still care about my 9th grade English grade? Even though I got an 800 writing score? I think you should take a year off. Do something unusual and reapply as a first-year. They don't defer everyone. Remember Joey Cheek! So, they must have liked you.

By the way, did anyone apply as a transfer to Cornell? I am looking for someone who saw the application deadline transfer from March 15 -June 1. Did anybody apply in May? I'ld like to know what happened!
