Hi, I’m a non-trad student in ohio and my Gpa is about 2.9 ish (I’m in school this summer and grades aren’t computed yet) and I got in. I’m from southern Ohio and so am considered a minority (Appalachian) so maybe that helped me? I was sort of shocked, because years ago I did horrible work at my present school (I dropped out, more than once, well, a lot, lol,) and all that ugly mess is on my transcript, but I’ve done really well since coming back and repeating classes to slowwwwly bring up my GPA which is why it’s low. So, anyway, i think you stand a very good chance! Have you applied? I am not going until Spring quarter because of financial aid, and am not going to go to my present school in the Fall either (I am on a semester system and have used up a good portion). Also, me and my sister visited last weekend and are going back this weekend…the campus area is very fun! And not just for 18 yera olds! I’m 40 :)

Hey, no i have not applied yet. i will in sept. I am out of state which i hear makes it harder. i have been to the campus and i am in love with it! hopefully everything goes ok for me…thanks for the info! i hope you enjoy your experience

the Newark campus is not really that far from Columbus and is open admissions. You have the very same status as a main campus student, you have all the same stuff, like buckID, football tix, etc, lol…they only have five majors i believe but if you want to go on to grad school at the main campus this is a very nice plan if you don’t get in to the main campus. If you are a brand new student and do well, you are guaranteed to be able to transfer to the main campus after a certain # of credits. AND it’s about 3 grand cheaper!! . In this scenario, new students could and do complete a lot of core classes and still can finish at the main campus in their desired degree program. OSU Newark is small and less hectic than the main campus, but it is a good deal! You can easily go visit the main campus on the weekends and attend the events there, etc. same as a main campus student. And if you stay, your degree is from OSU, and this smaller school has grad programs too, just not very many. i visited recently and it seems like an excellent place for young and non-trads with kids, very clean, nice, seemed safe, rural area, etc. I am going to the main campus because I don’t want to start my kids in one place just to move them again for grad school, but if this wasn’t a big deal, i would DEFINITELY go east a little to the Newark campus. Small classes, easy parking, short lines, these things are small but add up to way less pains-in-the-butt.Oh, and housing is safer and cheaper!

Well i am already in community college so i would much rather go straight to the main campus. if they don’t exept a 3.1 then i will wait and apply again. but yes i did hear about the other campus. sounds nice but not really for me lol

I was wondering what my chances of getting into osu are, i completed a semester at YSU and took 14 credits that semester. I got 4.0 gpa. Ive heard from people that you need 30 credits to get in?? help? I am taking 18 credit hours this semester, but i already applied with only 14 credits…

Hello,

I am a freshman at Central Michigan University with less than 30 credit hours. I hope to have a 3.3ish or higher GPA at the end of the semester. I am a member of a specialized college that requires students to attend volunteering, scholarship, and community events. I have 19 volunteer hours this semester. I worked on a road crew over the summer for three months as well. In high school I graduated from a pretty competitive high school with a 3.3 GPA. Under these circumstances do you think that I have a good chance of getting into Ohio State (Columbus)?

I also scored a 21 on the ACT, not great but I know they look at that stuff if you have less than 30 credit hours.

I recently got accepted as a trasnfer student with a 3.0 gpa, but I am an Ohio Resident. I have no idea if the fact that I am peruvian helped in the outcome, but I can not wait till September to start at fisher college of business.

100% chance you’ll get in. No worries.

Hello! Did you ever get in because I am currently in a similar situation!
