As of now with way grades looks and scores Pitt will be a huge reach for me. Therefore will plan on attending Duquesne University. What is the process of transferring from Duquesne to Pitt??? What year of Duquesne can I transfer to Pitt? Could I transfer in middle of freshman year of Duquesne to Pitt??? Shed some light on this.

I recommend to have a good attitude no matter which university you end up at. Work hard and get good grades. The workload in college is much greater than in high school and you should not be worrying about transferring before you even start. You may even end up really liking the school and will change your mind. You cannot transfer after only one semester as you need at least 24 credits to transfer (you take about 15 per semester)
Here are the guidelines:

[University of Pittsburgh: Undergraduate Admissions & Financial Aid](http://www.oafa.pitt.edu/trans_guidelines.aspx)

Southeastmom - So once I get 24 credits and that will be most likely in middle of second semester of freshman year than I can transfer, and finish rest of freshman year at at Pitt and rest of undergraduate studies at Pitt?

No Pitthopeful, you will be able to apply for the Fall semester after your freshman year at Duquesne.

You will have to finish off your first full year in order to gain at least 24 credits, you will be unable to take that many credits in half a year.

Check on the credit requirements, but you will apply for the upcoming fall semester during the spring at Duquesne.

Although I don’t know any of your stats I know this “If Pitt is a huge reach, Duquesne will be a high match”. So, you can’t just assume you will end up there.

XtremePower - Most likely will have 3.3 uw and 3.46 w by end of junior year. My SAT is 1560, 600 math, 510 reading, 450 writing. My EC are Key Club 4 years, Track and Field 3 years, SADD 2 years, Library Volunteer, and worker at APPNA Physician Conference, and plan on volunteering at my dad’s hospital sometime soon. I had 3.1 uw and 3.25 w freshman year so tried to get a upward trend going. These are my stats.

Also taking SAT again in June

The average GPA of a 2012-2013 accepted Pitt freshman was a 3.93. Your 3.46 by comparison is much much lower. Also keep in mind that the SAT needs to be around 1200 minimum to get in (at least 600 per section). ECs help, but if neither the GPA or the SAT are there, they can’t do much to help you get in. You need either a high SAT to counteract the low GPA or a big GPA boost to counteract a lot SAT.

For Duquesne, I think you should be in. Your writing score can be a problem but everything else looks good since the 25th percentile is at 1550.

For Pitt, its a high reach as you mentioned. You need to be (at least) on the 25th percentile to have any chance which is 1170 for R+M and 1730 R+M+W. For decent chance 1200+ or 1800+.

Also plan on applying there early decision, so how will that help me in getting into Duquesne University???
