Transferring to Pomona...

Ok so how important are the professer recommendations because I only have one class with less than 200 people in it, so thats only one prof. that even knows my name...this is definately one of my reasons for transferring.

Thanks!

It'd be really hard for anyone but a Pomona admissions officer to answer that question, but it most likely won't count too much against you if you've only been in large lecture classes. Make sure you get to know the professor who actually does know your name though; most of the students at Pomona really get to know their professors.

ok thanks, also does the quality of the previous college carry much weight in the transfer admissions process?

^ hmm... I can't say exactly how much the school makes a difference, but I transferred to Pomona from a school that's pretty much unknown. Just get pretty good grades at a mediocre school and I don't think it would matter.

how about decent grades at a really good school?

I'm guessing that would work..... but statements like that are incredibly vague, and I'm no admission counselor, so I can't really say. Also, I don't think Pomona places a lot of weight on grades... I get the feeling they care more about the personal statement and possibly extra curriculars..... or just a combination of all of them, haha

Ok good deal...when you have to explain one of your ECs is it better to write about one of them related to my major or one thats not really academic but pretty unique??

Write about one that you are passionate about that shows who you are as a person. That will be the most impressive especially if it is not a one time EC . Best of luck!
