My student is a freshman applying to transfer from a UC school to a small LAC where they were previously offered admission last year. They have made an effort to make contact with the admissions department to ask questions about the transfer experience, but after sending emails to 2 different admissions officers over the course of a month, they are still waiting for a response. Should we chalk this up to a busy time of year, since the new freshman class was just admitted? Should my student keep trying to make contact? (Application is complete.)
I would try a telephone.
Did your kid submit the app by the deadline? I agree they should call the department and ask to speak with either the transfer rep (if there is one) or their regional rep based on home address. Good luck.
Yes, app submitted by the deadline. She did call the department 2x and asked to speak to their local or transfer rep, but was given email addresses instead. I’m just wondering how persistent she should be in trying to make a connection.
If the application is complete, is there specific information that is needed before decisions come out, or is this trying to make contact to improve the chances of acceptance?
If the later the student should lay off and let the AOs do their job.
It was a little of both. She does have a couple of questions about housing, etc. that are not covered on their website, but I think she will be OK not to get answers to them. I was leaning toward just letting things go. I was just not sure with a small school (and a transfer situation) whether to expect that an AO would have time to answer emails.
So not actually needed information at this stage. Leave it be.
