I just transferred from a UC to a CC. There are no classes open for spring semester, only a math class that I need which isn't UC-transferable. I only have 11 units and need 30 in order to apply for TAG. What can I do to reach 30 units? please help me I'm in desperate need of help and I'm freaking out :(

Also I'd like to know if a summer class at a CC counts as a semester? Thanks.

I think generally nowadays it’s challenging to get into the classes you need, especially if you have a later registration date. The CC I attend is also on the semester schedule and after the first week for spring registration, the CC sent out an e-mail stating 90% of all courses were full with full waiting lists. : o

Are there any other CCs near you? Can you take any of your transferable courses online? You might want to see if there are nearby CCs with online courses still available if you can’t travel further.

Yes, a summer course taken at a CC counts as a semester course. It seems very challenging to take 19 units during the summer, if only because CCs have caps on how many units you can take, right? And to be added to additional courses over that cap, you usually need the professor’s permission to add in on the first day, which is nearly impossible (at least at my CC it is, with the school sending a message to students to stop doing this in the future, ha). I guess if you took courses at different CCs the unit-cap might not be an issue.

@elephapple. Thank you so much! I am planning on attending 2 community colleges and hopefully get my units done that way. Are online classes more expensive or the same ammount?

They should be the same amount. But yes, apply to multiple cc to increase your chances.

Does TAG accept coursework from diff. community colleges?

Yes. You will be asked to list all universities you have attended in the TAG application.

okay so I can’t pay for classes at another cc and I am on the waitlist for some classes at my cc. If I can’t make those 30 units I won’t be able to apply for TAG. If I apply without TAG what will be my chances?
I have 11 units, will be taking 5 spring semester, and I will also take (hopefully) 8 units over the summer. I have a 3.5 gpa and my major is soc.
