I applied to transfer to UCLA for the Fall of 2017, and I have completed the classes listed on the homepage for Life Scienec transfers at my community college, SMC. https://www.admission.ucla.edu/prospect/adm_tr/lsmajors/life_sci.htm is the homepage, and my main question is regarding the biology classes. I have completed one year of biology classes here, BIO 21 and 22, both with lab, but on the assist page, it says that BIO 23 is also needed to fulfill two of the Life Science courses at UCLA (I have the other two classes completed with 21 +22). Is it possible to still transfer to UCLA and complete them there? My school does not offer BIO 23 in the summer, so I would not be able to take it then either. I am not sure what I can do if I don’t get in.
I called a number on the admissions page for UCLA somewhere, and spoke to someone, telling them that I would have to complete one and a half years of biology instead of one year, and he told me that as long as I have one year done, I am “golden”. Is this true? It is my dream to go to UCLA, but this is my third year of being at this college, and am not sure if I can rationalize taking 4 years at a CC before transferring to a UC.
Thank you for your help/advice!
