Transfer from UCSB to UCLA

Hi, I’m currently a 1st year but have sophomore status. I go to UCSB currently but I really want to transfer to UCLA. I am currently enrolled as a psychology major but am changing my major to biology. What are my chances of getting accepted if I apply in fall? Also, should I return to UCSB next year or go to a CC? Any help or advice is much appreciated, thank you!

Hi there! I am also currently at UCSB and around this time last year, I was looking to transfer as a biology major too. Have you completed the chem series yet? If you’re looking to transfer as a biology major or any life science major, UCLA strictly requires the chem and calculus series, along with 1 semester (2 quarters at SB) of organic chemistry (https://www.admission.ucla.edu/prospect/adm_tr/lsmajors/life_sci.htm).

I decided against applying as a biology major for UCLA because I didn’t want to take ochem along with the bio series as a second year. If you’re really set on getting into UCLA, the CC route is obviously easier than the intercampus transfer route, but it’s ultimately up to you. I’m an intercampus transfer and I know a few people who were able to transfer to other UCs for the upcoming school year. It’s really difficult, but doable with hard work and perseverance.
