Transferring to UCR with a 3.2

What is the minimum gpa that could get me into UCR as a business admin major? Prerequisite will be done and so will IGETC. Could I get in with a 3.2 or 3.3 GPA?

See the table in the sticky at the top of the forum

Ok! I did. I look at the admit range? Lowest was 1.7 GPA. So I do still have a shot at getting in?

Consider that some of the very low GPAs are athletes or have other compelling curcumstances or skills beyond GPA. Try to keep in the middle (50%) of the 25-75% range of your chosen major’s average GPA.

If the admit range is 3.17 - 3.69 GPA, what is a safe GPA to have? Considering I’m not an athlete or anything. Is 3.3 GPA with prerequisite and IGETC done safe?

Riverside takes part in the TAG guarantee program. If you are at a Calif CC then you may be eligible. See http://admission.universityofcalifornia.edu/counselors/files/tag-matrix.pdf and work with the xfer counselor at your school

On the UCR website it says I need a 3.5 GPA for TAG so I don’t qualify

UCs admission have some qualitative components - so an awesome essay and killer ECs might get you in with a 3.3 - but who say’s what’s awesome?

for most programs at most UCs,the TAG threshold is a little lower than the a comfortable GPA without Tag

since you are in range, there is no harm in applying. They don’t technically offer a Business major but offer a Business concentration in their Econ dept at, Santa Cruz so, that may also work and is probably TAGable with your 3.3. For business, I’d encourage you to also apply to a couple of CalStates. Maybe SJSU and Chico?

Without killer ECs but a good essay do I have a chance? Are my chances of getting in really low?

I’d say you have a 25% chance of getting into UCR. You should apply but, have a plan B.
