Transferring to UCSD after a disappointing first year at UC Davis?

So depression hit me like a truck after the first quarter at UC Davis, and I ended up speaking to an academic advisor about my options. I withdrew from Winter Quarter to save my GPA (2.85) to keep myself at a good academic standing, and am planning to take classes at community college in the meantime before reapplying to UC Davis for Fall.

However, I’m wondering if I even have a chance at transferring to UCSD now. I’ve read up on the transfer requirements and how senior standing was determined.

Will it be possible to apply as a transfer to UCSD “normally”, as in possibly being admitted as a student in her junior year? And if not, are all my chances dashed?

My concern mainly comes from this segment on the official website:

"A transfer applicant may be considered in senior standing if he or she has completed:

70 semester units (or more) of lower-division coursework; and
20 semester units (or more) of upper-division coursework.

UC San Diego accepts transfer students at the junior (third year) level only. If you have questions about the number of transferrable units, please discuss with a UCSD Admissions Officer."

60 UC-transferrable units are the minimum requirement for transfer to UCSD. At the moment I only have 14.

I’m wondering if I can work hard enough for it to happen. And even if I can meet the minimum requirements, how likely am I to be rejected for withdrawing so quickly at my first year in university? Thanks for anyone who can help me out.

You don’t want to have senior standing. You want junior standing. So take 46 more units in the next year at your CC and apply this fall to transfer in Fall 2017.

Don’t worry about withdrawing; a friend withdrew from a UC, went to a CC for a year and got into Cal and UCLA.
