UC to UC Transfer as a Senior

My friend doesn’t have a College Confidential account and asked me this question. I had no answer for him. He’s currently a Psychology major at UCR (currently junior) and wants to transfer to UCI next Fall. Is this even possible?

Nope

double nope.

Maybe in special circumstances, but its a very small, chance http://admission.universityofcalifornia.edu/counselors/files/uc-transfer-maximum-limitation-policy-chart.pdf

Plus, he should have applied this past November. Why the sudden switch?

@2016Candles @lindyk8 @luckie1367 Oops I may have worded it wrong. He is an incoming junior for Fall 2015 for UCR. Is it possible to transfer to UCI for his senior year?

@dannybui9 What counselors have told me:

Regardless of class standing, if you have completed any upper division courses, it’s virtually impossible to transfer into a UC other than the one you are currently attending.

The short answer is no.

In order to be eligible for transfer you need to have between about 90-125 quarter units at the time you actually transfer, not when you apply. As you get closer to 125, you’re less likely to be accepted. 90-105 quarter units is ideal.

Maybe if he applied this fall and did not attend UCR? Like a mid-college gap year?

That way he wouldn’t be senior standing, he would enter UCI as a junior.

However thats assuming he has the pre reqs completed, yada yada, and didn’t take CC units in the mean time.
