Transferring to UF

I'm a bit confused as to how this works. I am currently a student at another 4 year college in Florida. I would like to transfer to UF. This is my freshman year. I brought 33 credit hours with me from AP, AICE and Clep upon starting college. I have another 6 from Summer,2012 and will have another 25 after Spring, 2013. Grand total of 64 credits. Do I have an AA? Will UF look at me for admission if I apply for Fall, 2013? When would I apply? In spring of 2013.

Also, what range should my GPA be in to have a shot at admission.

UF only allows 30 from AP, IB, CLEP, AICE etc… So you would need 30 credits in your college. Also you don’t need an AA if you go to a 4-year college, you just need 60 credits and it will be regarded the same.

Also deadlines are listed on their website here: [University of Florida - Admissions](<a href=“Transfer Dates & Deadlines - University of Florida”>Transfer Dates & Deadlines - University of Florida)

Most have a March 1st deadline…

Based on what you’re telling me its very possible and you’re on track… Make sure you have the tracking courses and prereqs for the college within UF that you want to transfer, as they have requirements. Call the specific college within UF and ask what their transfer requirements are…

Also work really hard this year as University to University transfers are a bit more difficult… But if you get excellent grades and just do everything on time etc you have a great chance.

Well, from what Im hearing, I would have enough as I would take the 30 from AP and another 30 from my college. My major is a limited access major that I would apply to in the Spring semester of my Sophomore year. It’s nursing. So if I did get accepted to UF, I would have to apply to the nursing college after being there for a year.

Does that make sense?

To be admitted as a transfer student you have to meet all of the prerequisites for your college/major. Just having 60 credits does not mean that you meet the AA degree requirements. The AA degree guarantees the Gordon Rule and general education requirements have been met also. Nursing is a particularly difficult major to transfer into so you are going to need to apply to a few schools so you have options. Basic nursing info found here [Admission Criteria Nursing Admissions College of Nursing University of Florida](http://admissions.nursing.ufl.edu/degrees/undergraduate/generic-bsn/admission-criteria/)

Yes, that is true. I figured that I would not be able to be admitted until the fall of my junior year as I have not met all the prerequisites for admittance to the college of nursing. So, hence, the question becomes, can I transfer into UF as a pre-nursing student because I do have the 64 credits and have met the majority of my nursing prerequites and then apply to the college of nursing in the spring of my Sophomore year (Spring, 2014).

It’s confusing because one has to apply to the nursing college to be accepted into the program after they have their prerequisites which no one at uf will have until the end of their 2 years there. So I am trying to spend one year there and then apply to the college of nursing. Does any of that make sense.

You cannot matriculate as a pre-major. You have to be admissible for your major for UF to admit you. Nursing also does not allow for spring admission. Their classes are sequential and students can only begin their program in the fall.
