I’m currently a first semester freshman Philosophy major and Communication Studies minor at KU. I don’t have Texas residency. UT lost my transcript when I applied in high school and I didn’t know I could appeal things so it never went through. I want to transfer to UT Austin for fall 2018. My classes are still in progress for this semester but I should have either a 3.5 or 3.75 after this semester. I applied to UTSA for the spring of 2018. Should I just wait until the March deadline and apply to UT from here? Or would going to UTSA to get my gpa up and be at a Texas public university help me? Thanks
One thing I know about UT is that they reserve 85% of their admissions for Texas residents. The rest are for the nonresidents. You would have about the same statistical chance of getting in as Duke University. Even if you get in, there’s no guarantee you’ll get the major you want because it’s super competitive. Going to UTSA wouldn’t help since you would still be a nonresident. You might end up stuck at UTSA paying nonresident tuition(UTSA is a great school, I went there). I would stick with Kansas University. It’s a great school.
