Hey so I am really wanting to transfer to UW Seattle for multiple reasons. I am a little disappointed to hear that they don't often accept transfers from 4 year school as much as they do from community colleges. (I read that they have an obligation to accept cc transfers over 4 years transfers.) I have a 3.7 in my college classes, and have done most of the basic skills requirements. I am majoring in philosophy and really want to go to UW because 3 of my uncles did, and my grandpa. I also want to study philosophy with really smart people at UW, (Its always great to surround yourself with smart people.) What do you guys think?

Also, in case it is relevant, I want to go to law school after I complete my bachelors so going to UW would be great because I wouldn’t have to change schools, I could just apply to UW Law after I graduate.

You have a decent GPA, so in this sense you are fine. What they look for is a good reason WHY you want to transfer. I think the law school thing is a good reason.

I’m also wanting to transfer to UW Seattle from another 4 year in the state. However, I’m only a freshmen in my first quarter and will only have 14 credits by the time I apply, though I intend for 45 by the end of the year. I really don’t want to stay at my current university. I know this is your thread but if anyone has advice on my transfer application, please let me know!

I was wondering about this too. I’m a senior in high school and I know I won’t get accepted into UW but I still want to go there. If I don’t get into Penn State I wanna transfer to U-Dub after my freshmen year. Is that possible?

Bump…

@LonghornNation, yes. But as long as you have below 45 quarter credits you have to apply as a freshman. Also, don’t go to a 4-year university if you really want to go to the UW.

Does that just kill all chances of going to UW? I mean if I went to a 4-year institution

Let’s just say you get a higher chance of getting into the UW if you go to a 2-year. First of all, because the UW considers community college students a priority. Second of all, because it’s easier to get a higher GPA at a 2-year (higher GPA – higher chances).

Well what about cc from OOS. I think they only take in state CC transfers. If not all in state then a very small percentage from OOS

Doesn’t matter. There must be a good reason WHY you want to transfer to the UW. From a 2 year it’s clear – to get a degree. From a 4 year you would have to think about a convincing reason why you don’t want your degree to be from your current 4 year…

Ahhh that makes sense. Thanks Seatac, but I don’t really think CC is the way for me to go. I’m not sure it’s for me.
