Transferring to VT

I went to a college prep high schoolf or 12 years and graduated with a 3.8 gpa, ACT score of 29 and extracurriculars - i applied to UGA, Virginia Tech, JMU, College of Charleston, University of South Carolina, and Clemson. I got in to all but decided stupidly I refused to go to a school in-state - which would be the virginian schools. i toured UGA, SC, and Clemson and decided to go to south carolina without ever visiting JMU or VT. After almost my first semester here now, I think I made a huge mistake. I visited a good friend of mine at Tech 2 weeks ago and had an awesome time. The education is better there, and I like the people a lot better. I plan on transferring for my sophomore year... I have about 3.7-3.8 GPA for my first semester, and I already got into Tech during my senior year. The only problem is, a week ago I got written up at one of my friend's dorms because I was walking back from the hall bathroom with a friend of mine with a beer in her hand - all nine of us were written up even though she was the only one actually seen holding alcohol. we'll have to go in front of a judiciary committee in spring semester and most likely receive a $50 fine and have to attend an alcohol class. The Tech transfer app asks if you've ever been suspended/expelled/subjected to disciplinary action from your prior university - this is the only trouble I've been in high school and in college - will this hurt my chances of getting in?

At the judiciary committee you have a chance of not getting the fine or anything cause you were not involved its happened to someone on my floor

hahah that punishment is ridiculous. How dare you be in the same hallway with someone with a beer? An alcohol class...sheesh. Because standing next to a beer makes you an alcoholic. It just makes me mad because you could be the most straight edge nerd in the world, not touch alcohol your whole life, and get written up for something like this.

yeah hopefully you won't get the fine since you didn't have the beer to begin with, then you won't have to put it on your app. good luck

Tech sucks...seriously there is nothing to do on campus. I had a hell of a time when I was visiting here, but after you live here for a few months stuck in the middle of nowhere it starts to get old.
