transferring to yale

Hello,

I am a Harvard student. Was accepted to Yale, Stanford, Harvard, Duke for 2011 class year. I was nearly enrolling at Yale when my parents forced me to go to Harvard.

Harvard's not exactly been the best of experiences. Been thinking of transferring somewhere. What to think about Yale?

I transferred to Yale and love it. Love, love, love it. The Harvard name obviously carries a lot of prestige, but frankly, for the small difference of fame and honor respective school carries, you'll be far more happier here - not to mention, have superior access to counseling, political activity, the whole Yale enchilada.

Hey thanks for replying. So you really transferred from harvard to yale? See i was accepted to yale and really loved it but my parents forced me to apply to harvard and made the decision for me. i can't say harvard's been that great. i feel like it's not socially engaging enough and i feel like people walk around with the air of ''oh we're at harvard.'' the classes are great but the professors have thus far been so-so, barely teaching and having little interaction with students.
what i noticed at yale was that close interaction not only in the classes but also among students. while students may not come in with that feeling i still feel like the environment fosters it. the one thing i'm just really worried about is applying and either (a) finding out i got rejected from the school i'd rather be at, (b) if i were lucky enough to get in, not fitting in in the sense that 'i'm the transfer student' or 'i'm the kid who didn't think harvard wasn't good enough' or just having to feel a completely different adjustment process, and above all (c) coming to yale and possibly realizing my expectations were FAR too high. any advice? what really pushed you to apply to transfer?

From Harvard? Haha, no. But to be very subjective and biased here, I never even applied to Harvard - just seemed too stale, stuffy, and cold compared to the tight-knit school spirit here.

Don't worry at all about being an outsider just because you transferred. If anything, being a transfer has meant you are more noticeable; you get to meet all these other cool transfer kids; and good God, no, you won't be disappointed. I didn't have much expectations when I came in here, so I've only had positive surprises.
