Transferring with a Double vs. Triple Major

Hey,

I was wondering whether you guys thought whether having a double or triple major makes a difference when transferring. Right now my GPA is about a 3.67 and I was thinking about triple majoring in English, French, and Philosophy. It was just going to be English and French as the requirements are nearly identical; the French degree was only two more classes, but I added a third to keep me as a full time student and to make sure I was taking 6 classes a semester. I chose Philosophy as I was debating about whether to major in it before I started CC.

My quest is do colleges look at having a triple major more highly than a single or a double major when considering transfers? I was sort of worried that they might think that I was too broad and didn't know what I want to do with school and my life. What do you guys think? If I take 6 classes next semester I'll receive 3 A.A. If I take only 4 classes I'll receive 2. My main focus is on getting into a University, personally if a double major somehow helps me more then that's what I want to do.

I don’t think it will hurt nor harm you. The deciding factor should be is you’re willing to triple major not because it may possibly raise your chances at admissions, BUT because you’re actually passionate and have an intellectual thirst towards all three majors.

Bottom line, be honest. It’s a really subjective question. Some admission officers may find it impressive and find your motives genuine, while others may grow a bit cynical (I know that there are many cases when students write “triple-major” when they have absolutely no interest and merely being pretentious)

I cannot see where a triple major would be a plus. That is just an opinion, however.
