Transferring your grades from a community college

Does Emory take the credits you earn from your community college?

Do the grades you earn factor into your overall Emory GPA? Do you have to send the official transcript from the CC to Emory if you took some courses there?

I’m applying this year, so I’m not an Emory student, but I looked into this stuff for myself.

Yes, please see the following excerpt from the college of arts and science catalog.

I have no link for this, but most colleges do not factor your CC grades into your overall GPA. I heard/read somewhere that Emory does factor your grades into your Emory GPA if you’re applying as a transfer student, have an A.A., and receive junior standing. In your case, I definitely wouldn’t think so.

Yes–even if you don’t want credit. Colleges request official transcripts from all high schools and colleges/universities you’ve taken courses at. If you don’t, they’ll find out, and it’ll mean that you’ve lied when you signed the application.

No transfer credits will count in your Emory GPA. Regardless, your GPA starts over at Emory.

Thanks, guys.

Just wondering, is it really considered a lie to not put down a community college course on your app? What if the course was taken for fun, and the grade won’t be used for either high school credit or college credit?

Yes, 10 char
