Is it possible to transfer into Pomona after freshman year of college? What is their acceptance rate? Is it better to do it after sophomore year? What grades do I need to get in?

They generally accept about 10 transfers per year, which are placed into a sponsor group just like the freshman. The rate varies depending on how many apply, but is pretty constant as freshman retention is ~99%

Because there are very few spots open for transfer students to fill, the admit rate for transfer students tends to be even lower than the freshman admit rate (which for the class of 2010 was 17%). You can submit a transfer application in the spring of your freshman year (for sophomore year entrance at Pomona) or the spring of your sophomore year (for junior year entrance). I recommend that you call the Admissions Office if you want specific statistics such as the admit rate or the average scores and GPA for admitted transfer students.

Just curious, but would it be worth it to attempt transferring from Berkeley? I love Pomona and it remains my top choice, but for some reason I get a vibe that it's not worth transferring; either freshman admission or nothing. Of course I still want to transfer, but I'd like to know what other students would do in my shoes.

try it out because you do not need to go even if your transfer gets accepted. both are amazing schools, but Pomona offers you a more intimate feel and a closer relationship with your professors in a less competitive atmosphere.
