Transfers! =D

Hey everyone!

Seeing that there are threads on here for all other types of applicants, I thought transfers should have one too! So, feel free to introduce yourselves. How is everyone dealing with playing the waiting game?

Hello! :)

Personally I would love the wait to be over, but I suppose it will happen when it does. Luckily or maybe unluckily I have a pretty busy semester and I don’t have much time to think about it lol! Also I am not your typical transfer, but rather a Davis Scholar. Hoping your wait isn’t too stressful!

Hi! I’m not enjoying the waiting. We don’t hear til the end of May…

Did you apply anywhere else?

I did apply to a few other schools, however Wellesley is my #1 and has been for quite some time. I’m not really enjoying the waiting game either lol! It’s been so difficult to focus this semester because I just want to know decisions already. Did you apply anywhere else? Are you applying as a sophomore or junior transfer?

I applied to 4 other schools. When I asked, Wellesley told me they only accept 3-10 transfers per year…gulp.

I’m applying as a sophomore transfer. How about you?

Wow! That is such a staggering statistic! However, the way that I’m feeling is that if things are meant to be, they will be. I’m also trying to stay positive because I have a friend who was admitted to Vassar last year under the same sort of staggering statistic as Wellesley has regarding transfer admissions. So I’m just trying to keep that in mind to tell my self, that you never know what is possible.

I am applying as a junior transfer. I have been absolutely in love with Wellesley for a number of years and I would look forward to spending as much time there as I possibly can. Honestly, if I were to be accepted I wouldn’t mind if I ended up a semester or two behind. I just really want to be a part of the unique environment that Wellesley offers.

Have you chosen a major yet? I’m majoring in mathematics.

I transferred to Wellesley a few years ago. It’s unfortunate that Wellesley is taking fewer transfers this year… my year there were 20 or 30 of us in the transfer group at orientation. Basically, getting accepted as a transfer is less about having “perfect stats,” but rather having “a good story.” Feel free to PM me with any questions. Good luck!

You are so sweet college_ruled! =)

I was just wondering… are decisions posted online or are they snail mailed to transfer applicants? Also, I couldn’t help but notice that on some previous threads transfers heard their decisions in mid-April rather than late May as Wellesley’s website states. When did you find out your acceptance?

I just figured that I’d ask these questions here instead of pm-ing them so that other transfers could see your answers.

As a transfer, I did get to see the decision posted online (the snail mail came afterwards).

Wellesley was the first school I heard back from… so I do think it was April. I definitely heard back before the end of May.

April would be great! I’m not sure if they’ll stick to that this year, since they’re really worried about their very high retention rate. I think they really need to know how many admitted freshmen are accepting their offer/how many students are staying on campus before they let us know, so I assume May is really when they’ll tell us.

Hey! I hope we find out before May because I will be out of the country with limited internet access. @college_ruled - Where did it say you were accepted online? When I log in the main area that shows anything personal is my materials checklist. Also… How did Wellesley incorporate transfers with freshman orientation? Was it hard to adjust?

After Wellesley released its decision, the the news of my acceptance showed up first thing after I logged in.

Transfers have their own orientation group.

Wellesley was an adjustment because it was “very different” from what I was used to. But since Wellesley is such a welcoming community, I felt “at home” quickly.

hey everyone! I’m a fellow transfer applicant as well, and Wellesley is my number one school. I am so nervous now that you guys said only 3 - 10 applicants will be accepted this year . . . yikes. It actually fits with what the admissions ppl told me, that decisions were pushed back this year from Mid April to Mid May. Where is everyone else applying from btw? I’m currently at a community college in CA.

I think 3-10 scares us all. I am applying from another liberal arts college, but I am from CA!

I’m applying from a big private school in MA. Pretty nervous for May!

I’m a transfer student, and if any of you need help in the transferring process let me know!!
One of my closest friends is the orientation coordinator for transfers as well…
I hope you all get accepted!!! This is my first year at Wellesley after transfering and I absolutely love it!!!

Hi Marcie. Thanks for the support. Can you give us your stats?

I wonder how many applicants they will have this year . . . hopefully just us lol jk stupid me.
Anyway, what r u guys’ stats?
For me:
GPA:3.82
major: classics
school: community college in LA
Scholars program, PTK (honors societies)
Work as a receptionist/ on-site manager for a property.

My high school grades are awful so I’m kind of worried about those. Have you guys sent in the midterm grade report btw?

I’m sooo nervous. I really want to be admitted (as all of you, I pressume!).

I haven’t heard anything yet, but apparently they haven’t received my test scores or my interview, so I’m thinking this will definitely hurt my application. :(

Stats:
GPA: 3.7
Major: French
School: Simmons College
Part of the Honors Program. Worked full-time while holding 16 credits my first year of college.

Devotchka: I would call them to double-check. It said they hadn’t “received” my interview either, but I called and they fixed it.
