Transfers to USC's SCA Fall 2011!

Hey Marbas - That personal statement sounds great.

I’m applying to Production and wrote my PS on how I want to make a difference in my films by conveying messages and whatnot.

Have any of you uploaded your visual samples yet?

@sydneyral
Your personal statements sound interesting, I’d love to read them! Mind exchanging?

@singh
Yup! Everything in aside from the FAFSA, which I’m working on right now. :D

It’s such a relief to be done with this lol.

I’d be more than happy to exchange. I’m also interested in seeing writing samples! They’re not as extensive as the ones I was required to submit for screenwriting but I’m curious :smiley:

Also: What kinds of moves do you guys want to make in the future?

@sydneyral

I’ll send you a message w/ my writing sample if you want. It’s only a 3 minute dialogue. It’d be cool to be able to read yours too.

@Marbas: Go ahead. I need to find a way to upload mine as a PDF and give a link to it, because it is 15 pages long.

Man, I had to dig this thread up. We’re slippin guys. :stuck_out_tongue:

I was just wondering, have any of you guys considered SCA’s summer programs?

Also, has anyone noticed any trends, patterns, etc. in the applicants who are accepted/rejected from SCA?

I know it’s kind of late, but have any of you listen back from USC?? I applied to film production as an international transfer… I really hope to see you there!

btw, marbas, that sound as a great PS, don’t worry…

Are you serious they only accept 50 or 60 students into film production? So only a handful of us are getting in out of how many applicants? Where did you get your numbers? I am suddenly feeling very nauseous.

Anyone receive an answer yet?

I applied to Critical Studies… What up.

I applied to production - the uncertainty is killing me! Did you apply anywhere else? Tisch? What schools are everyone coming from? I’m at McGill in Montreal

Is it true there’s a chance your application won’t get passed USC and sca will never see it??

I think they review them simultaneously.

Sometimes SCA overrides USC’s decision…

Did most of you decide to write dialogue scenes or so the two page movie pitch?

Has anyone heard of anyone getting accepted to SCA with a lower gpa?

Spent some time yesterday watching this years visual sample’s on YouTube - the competition is admirable! Seems like a stronger year than previous in terms of creativity!

Any updates fellow sca hopefuls?

I’m starting to get so anxious!

None for me, still on the “we are reviewing your application” one, which I hear really just means they are looking over everyones app to make sure they are complete before they send to the actual SCA committee to be actually reviewed. Based on what I saw for last year, it would seem us film applicants won’t hear back till around May 20 or so (I think we are later than alot of other majors in getting decisions), so should still be another 3-4 week wait

Reelfilm I can’t wait that long !!! My status is also the reviewing … !

@moniso- Haha well u don’t gotta choice! I hate the wait too, hopefully it’s sooner than last year

Heeey!!! I received this… I don’t know what it means !!! SOS!!!

Just speculation though! What is your status?

Yes I see what you mean… I received the exact same email back in feb 28… just after I applied… I was getting excited for this… :S
