I was wondering what the transition is from California to Boston. I have family that live in Worcester and all around Boston, but I was bored and raised in southern California. Besides school, hockey is my life, so I think it would be a great fit because of the hockey atmosphere in the east coast.

I’m currently going to a community college in California and my major is business administration. My plan is to transfer to USC next year, but if I don’t get accepted, I’m thinking about Boston being a backup plan. Is their business program really good? And do you guys have any other suggestions?

LOL. I met a few Cali folk at Orientation this week, and they said everything was different. They commented on: nicer people, safer place (?), different environment, and stuff...

There are plenty of people from Cali in Boston. A good chuck of people I got to know during my freshman year were from Cali. You won't be alone.

Boston is different, though. I'm from the South, and Boston is definitely different. Not better or worse, necessarily, but different. You'll get used to it with time. The biggest pain is the weather. It's cold and cloudy and rainy/snowy a lot. Not as much sun as you're used to. I can't lie, Boston weather is pretty depressing. But it's a great city, so it's worth it.

I also picked BU because of the hockey atmosphere. I don't play, but I'm a huge fan. Love it. Boston is an O6 city, and there's college hockey everywhere. Definitely a lot of hockey love in Boston.

7.5% of each undergrad class is from CA. That's the 4th highest. In the class of 2010, it was MA at 19.2%, NY at 15.9%, NJ at 10.5% and CA at 7.4%
