Transitional lenses

I was just wondering if there were any rules about cadets having transitional lenses in their glasses (the ones that turn dark when you’re outside)? I know they’ll be issued glasses for bct, but wondered about afterwards.

Wow now I am reaching into that dusty cobweb filled brain cause it has been a few years, but I believe it should be OK. The only time they might be a problem is when the cadets are in formation (Marching). During the first year they may not like them either.....Not sure who is around to answer for sure.
Eagle? Petko? Falcons? G4C? .....if no one chimes in Potter will be back sometime late monday, after they gas her.

I'm not sure off the top of my head. Let's see what the Sight Picture has to say...

Wear and style IAW AFI 36-2903.

The AFI goes much more in depth, of course. Here are the regs:

Conservative ornamentation on frames and lenses. Authorize conservative ornamentation on non-prescription sunglasses or eyeglasses, frames may be black or brown material or gold or silver wire. Brand name glasses may be worn with small logo on frames or lenses. Logo must be same color as frames or lenses. Conservative wrap around sunglasses may be worn. Conservative, clear, slightly tinted or photosensitive lenses. Conservative lenses and frames (faddish styles and mirrored lenses prohibited). No sunglasses (to include darkened photosensitive lenses) in formation. Not worn around the neck or on top/back of head or exposed hanging on the uniform. Eyeglasses/sunglasses will be worn in the manner for which they were made.

Looks like ds is spot on. No shades in formation, but otherwise they shouldn't be a problem.

Thanks alot. I guess we'll go get him some regular glasses before he goes.

haha, good call with the CSP, Petko. Comes in handy having that thing around sometimes!

How's Osan Falcon? Are you staying away from those Food Carts in Son Tong City. Dont forget to bring home a mink blanket for those cold Colorado nights, and stay out of the club's at night.

haha, yep. I've had my fill of Korean food, but I haven't tried any of the Food carts yet. I did get a custom-made/custom-tailored suit for an incredible price though. Just think, some of you 2012ers might even get to come here in a few years.

Whatever anyone tells you though, don't be bummed about having to do CST/SERE your 3-dig summer...I'm working with a bunch of SERE guys while I'm in Korea, and it's one of the coolest jobs...well, except for fighter pilot. ;)
