<p>We live in Fairfax County (specifically Reston), and I would like to know what transportation options there are between here and Blacksburg, for times when we cannot make the drive ourselves. Are there convenient buses? Ways to find carpools? I see a Facebook page, "Virginia Tech Carpools" -- but I wonder about other options. I particularly need to arrange a carpool for Hokie Camp, since I can drive to VT on Aug. 11 but can't bring my daughter home on Aug. 13.</p>

<p>There are bus companies such as Homeride and megabus that’ll take you between home and blacksburg most days, though you need to buy tickets and choose your day early. If you just wanna carpool, you can easily post on the VT Class of 2017 or Class of 2018 pages asking people if anyone has a carpool spot available. I see a lot of people doing things like that, and generally you’ll find a nice person who will get you where you need to go.</p>
<p>Thanks for the information! I am surprised to see that HomeRide does not have a new schedule up yet – the last date shown is from May 2014. Megabus may be a good way for my daughter to return from Hokie Camp, especially since she can now take Metro from Union Station to Reston!</p>
