Transportation to Downtown Madison

Madison will soon have a jitney to ferry passengers to and from downtown and the nearby college campuses.

Mayor Mary-Anna Holden on Monday night told the meeting that NJ Transit has approved Madison for a $223,000 transportation grant at the end of August. The jitney will be operated in a multi-year deal in cooperation with Drew University, the College of St. Elizabeth in Convent Station and Fairleigh Dickinson University.

I never understood why these campuses did not have something like this available before. It will make it easier for those without cars to go between campuses and to shop downtown.

That’s good news, my son would walk to Madison center and some restaurants but getting to other places took more effort. His friend had to get her parents car to go to St Elizabeth and I said, “They don’t have a shuttle?” They did have a van that went to Stop and Shop but I don’t know if that is still there.
