Trasferring UCSD. I have few Questions about college and major

Hello

Well… let me introduce about myself first.
My name is Roy.

I’m a junior transfer and I got placed into the Revelle. After taking a look at their GE reqs, I’m starting to go nuts. 5 writting classes, foreign language, 3 calculus classes which I can probably test out of, upper div regional specialization, upper div writing intensive course…

I’m not here to spend all this money on GEs, no matter how “well-rounded” I’ll be after its completion.

Can anyone here help me who goes to UCSD or know of this process of transferring out of the Revelle and into a more science directed college, such as warren which seems to only require a year of science and math.

But I want to be a LAPD. I was going to transfer UCI for Criminal Justice Major
I applied UCSD, UCSB, UCI, and UCR, and I was admitted all of them
I know I had to go to UCI for developing myself to be a LAPD.
However, LAPD requires any 4yrs University to be a detective. So I do not have to…(I guess)

I met my gf in January, and my gf wanted me to come to UCSD.
Well… I decided to go to UCSD because UCSD is the highest rank in that group.

But after I chose and did SIR to UCSD, I found out Revelle has huge requirement GEs.
And Human Development major is not what I need to study.
I want to study Econ or Management for my career if I don’t be a LAPD.

Is it hard to change major from HD to Econ or Econ Management?
I know it defense what classes I took from the college.
So my questions are…

Is it easy to change Major?

Is it easy to transfer college from Revelle to Warren?

Just go to UCI before SIR ends

I took 2 English classes, 1 pre-calculus, 3 Soc classes, and…etc.
How many Writting class and calculus class do I have to take?
Revelle has 5 writting and 3 calculus.

Please, help

God I’m stressing here. Anyone have some advice?

Thanks

Roy

Just send another SIR to UCI right away. There is nothing to lose by holding your place at two schools, you will have more time to decide which of the two you will ultimately attend.

By the way, you probably should go to UCI anyway, to save yourself the stress of worrying about GEs and criminology majors. It sounds like UCI is perfect for you, why are you stressing so much on making UCSD work for you? (It really doesn't help that you didn't research UCSD's colleges).

You're only in college for two more years anyway. Your first priority should be to graduate in those two years, and UCI looks like it can do that for you.

i heard there is no way to transfer colleges (revelle, marshal ,etc) once you get into one

By completing all the GE requirements as set forth between Cali community colleges and the UC's, you become exempt from having to follow the UC's GE pattern upon transferring. So if you've completed the full set of GE requirements at your CC, then you should get IGETC certified prior to transferring to UCSD. If everything is not completed by the end of summer, then tough luck pal.

The important thing to note is that you must get certified prior to transferring as they do not allow certification after you've already transferred.

I've spent the past few years at my CC completing all the GE requirements. As of now, I'm still missing 1 more GE bio class which I will take this summer prior to transferring, and then have my cc IGETC certify me. When I transfer, I only have to worry about completing my upper division major courses and not have to take anymore bullchit GE junk. Go here to find the articulation agreements between CC's and UC's.

nate

nope fulfilling igetc does not complete all of UCSD's GE requirements, it may complete a good portion of them but not all of them

mlio23

All I can say is that it's easy to change majors.

I don't really know where you should go and what your chances of switching colleges are.

IGETC is applicable at Earl Warren, Sixth, Thurgood Marshall, and John Muir colleges only. Courses completed prior to transfer will be applied toward the college’s own lower-division requirements. Revelle students must also complete the remainder of the college’s requirements.

IS THIS TRUE????

UCI = match

Yes that's true. Eleanor and Revelle don't accept IGETC, but the rest do. Go here for more info. Look on p. 18
