Travel plans....

I know this is a long shot (because these schools don’t get a lot of attention on here) but I’m wondering if anyone can recommend the best place to stay while visiting / auditioning at either of these schools:

Loyola NOLA
College of Saint Rose

Also, hoping these will be doable without renting a car. I’m good with a cab to / from the airport. So, a hotel with a shuttle or a nearby bus stop and restaurant options within hotel and walking distance are ideal. St. Rose will be pretty much only a tour and audition visit. Loyola will be for a couple of extra days…hoping to get something fun in. Any suggestions for that would be appreciated, too.

Thanks!

The Park View is across the street from Loyola and right on the street car line. I believe they have a Loyola rate.

There are lots of places to eat uptown or Carrollton and St. Charles area within a few blocks and places on Maple and Oak that are close. You can streetcar then walk a block.

We used HomeAway for stays and were very happy

In terms of your stay you would want to decide if you want to stay near the school and travel for action or stay in the action and travel for the audition. The traditional chain hotels are, of course, more near the thick of things.

When are you headed to NOLA?

Thanks @saintfan !

We are planning on visiting end of January. Have not gotten a confirmation for the January 30th audition, but that’s what we are hoping for.

This was the last school to be added to my D’s list, but I can tell she has spent a lot of time on the website and analyzing the programs / course requirements and seems pretty excited about it.

Be aware that this is heading into Mardi Gras week so lodging will be expensive and hard to come by and parades and other hoopla might impede your progress. If you really are going then plan now and plan carefully. I would stay as close to Loyola as possible if you can.

Thanks for the heads up. We haven’t really even looked at what we may want to see / do yet. I was thinking we’d get a hotel as close to campus as possible. That’s what we usually do. The bed and breakfast in the link above looks really nice!

I did a quick look at the calendar and they only have one room left over the weekend. Again, we’ve used HomeAway 3 times in NOLA and twice in the campus area and been very satisfied. It’s another option.

For St. Rose, there are many hotels on Wolf Rd, the majority will have shuttles. The Desmond, Radisson, etc. There are CDTA buses running but you will need to check their schedules.
