Other than driving, what’s the easiest way to get to UC Merced from San Diego (for those who travel this route)? Train? Plane & train? Thank you for any guidance!
Not a fun route to travel IMO. You can take a plane from San Diego to Fresno/Yosemite airport, then drive an hour to Merced. There is a regional airport in Merced, but not sure who flies into there.
Thank you, @PepperJo! We’re realizing it is almost easier to fly to Chicago than to get to Merced!
You can drive on the 99 to get to Merced but its a long drive.
There are flights from LAX to Merced Airport via Botique Air. Also from Oakland. Prices are somewhat reasonable surprisingly.
@Fish125
I’ve driven from SoCal to Mammoth and Yosemite a few times. Long and boring drive. Merced is really close to nowhere but as the campus grows, I imagine transportation options will too.
Thank you all so much for taking the time to answer my question!! You’ve really helped my son plan this trip.
The flight search website for Boutique Air is here:
@Fish125 sorry I am late seeing this… my son is at UCM and the cheapest way is to fly into Oakland on Southwest… usually $80 or so except peak times and take Boutique Air $18 to Merced airport then take an Uber to the campus… hope it was in time
