traveling to new york city

anyone know the best way to get from pittsburgh to new york city, aside from driving? i was looking up amtrack fares, and roundtrip is around $112... is there anything cheaper?

Before and after most breaks, the service fraternity Alpha Phi Omega (APhiO) runs a bus service called Magic Bus. It doesn't have the greatest of reputations (there's a thread on here about it from not too long ago), but it's cheaper than Amtrak.

Other options: Greyhound? Southwest Airlines? (They don't do direct Pittsburgh-NYC flights, but maybe even a one-stop will be cheaper than Amtrak.)

And seriously, Amtrak just sucks. A lot. The one Amtrak trip I took was from NYC to Albany. It cost $43 or something and I ended up getting into Albany two hours late.

you're in luck. JetBlue began flying JFK-Pgh June 30, 2006. Four flights a day I believe.

As usual for JetBlue, the rates are cheap.
