<p>Hello! So my orientation is fast approaching (July 9-10), and I'm quite worried about how I will be traveling to UW. I plan to take the Bolt Bus from the Portland area up to Seattle. Once there, I'm pretty lost on what to do. The Seattle station is at 5th Ave S & S King St
Seattle, WA 98104. I'm just wondering what would be the best way to get to UW? I was possibly thinking of taking a transit bus, but I'm not exactly sure which line to take.
If any of you know your way around Seattle, I would appreciate your help. This is my first time going to Seattle by myself, and I'm scared of getting lost!</p>
<p>From 5th Ave S & S King St, you can go down into the International District Station transit tunnel and get the 71, 72 or 73 to the University District. It will cost you $2.50 (and they do accept dollar bills). You’ll get off at the Brooklyn Ave. and NE Campus Pkwy stop. The bus ride is about 20-25 minutes, depending on the time of day.</p>
<p>Tiny addendum: You’ll need the Northbound transit tunnel entrance. There are big signs above the stairs/escalators indicating if the buses are north or southbound.</p>

<p>You’re welcome hazel! Yes, the bus stop going back Downtown/to the International District Station is across the street @ NE Campus Pkwy and 12th Ave. Take the 71, 72 or 73 to the International District station, which is the last stop.</p>

<p>Also, since I’m a visual person I thought I’d add a note. When you arrive @ UW it should stop right in front of Alder Hall. There will be a grocery store (District Market) /coffee shop (husky grind) right there. </p>
<p>FYI, if you’re into coffee at all, the husky grind is surprisingly good. I miss ordering my fav: marionberry soy latte. yum</p>
<p>Oh…and when you’re ready to go back the stop is in front of Elm Hall. Directly behind where you wait for the bus is a workout facility for students living on campus. On the other side of the building is Cultivate (a restaurant). </p>

<p>Thanks for the tip travelgirl! I’m also a visual person, so that helps as well. And I think I’ll go check out the husky grind since I have a couple hours to kill when I get to UW! </p>
<p>PrincessAnna gave a pretty good estimate on how long a bus ride is but I was wondering if a full hour would be enough time? Orientation ends at 4:30, and I’m catching a train at 5:30pm (which I believe the Amtrak station is in the same area as the bus station). </p>

<p>You can look at these locations on Google Maps, and go to the streetview icon. Then you’ll easily recognize the location when you see it in person.</p>
<p>@hazel12: I checked the Seattle Metro Trip Planner (if you want to try it out yourself, you can use “University of Washington” as your starting point and “Amtrak Seattle” as your destination) and here is the schedule:</p>

4:44pm 71 bus arrives at 5:16</p>
<p>I’d try to make the 4:36 if I were you - that will give you enough time in case the bus is late. Maybe leave orientation a few minutes early to make sure you get to the bus stop in time.</p>
