trends

yeah i see a lot of emo guys around to. i think its sexy. for some reason, guys in girls pants, bangs, blazers, and eyeliner is hot. i have thought that for a long time, and the fact that its becoming mainstream is good and bad. good - lot more guys dressing like it. bad - people just do it because its cool, which is never fun.
drinking/drug use is huge here too. you can go through our yearbook and pick out the grove guys (mostly the irish kids that hang out at this park and get really drunk), the party girls (get drunk and parties and do stupid stuff), the team (the guys that take advantage of the party girls), the stoners, and the cokeheads (dead serious, there is a HUGE contingent of them here). there are straight-edge kids. more than it seems, but the drinkers/druggies are so much more obvious and out there, that it seems as if they are the majority.
napoleon dynamite is huge here too, which is lame, because i saw it the day it came out and thought it was great. now it is just damn annoying.
having no taste in music seems to be a popular trend. (slightly biased, i suppose, but lindsey lohan? simple plan? come on!)
nalgeen waterbottles are really popular. most are covered in stickers so that everybody know what you like.
make-up is mostly the natural look, but some girls go wwaayy overboard. but generally, i have no issue with the makeup.
going all out for friends birthdays is big. you always decorate your friends locker on their birthday, everybody brings cards, decorations, balloons, flowers, and brownies. sometimes cookies but you always end up with ten plates of brownies. its ridiculous, but yummy.
appearing stupid, but actually being smart and getting good grades seems to be in.
going to shows is in. especially in small clubs, where you get really up close and personal with the band. those are the best, and this is a trend i actually really like and really got into.
velour pants. everybody where juicy. its crazy. everybody owns a full juicy suit (or a realllly good fake) in at least four different colours. we can argue that they are not sweat pants(which are illegal) at our school. i dont own any, but my sister owns quite a few. they are actually quite comfortable.
uggs and miniskirts were huuuge for a while. thank god thats gone. that was really ugly.
raising money for AIDs orphans in africa. another really good trend. a group im part of comes of with ways to make stuff like this cool and not dorky. it worked. we raised tons for an AIDs orphanage in tanzania.
flip-flops on guys and girls. it seems that thats all anybody wears these days.
the backside. the last page of our school newspaper. its the comedy part, and its hilarious. everybody reads it. its actually the only part of the paper that anybody reads. but nobody wants to miss it.

Being intelligent seems to be in at many places...its about time

ok hold on superstar... some of those things are fun... brownies and presents from friends... its just a way to feel loved...and let ur friends no u care. and i think small bands are in just cuz indie is becoming really trendy too, which kinda defeats the purpose, nalgene bottles are just practical... except kinda hard to drink out of at times... and the AIDs orphans thing just worked cuz everyone loves Ms. Albach lol

I go to suburban middle class high school just out side of St. Louis....

Let see...at my school fake blonde is big. Tans are like a must. LV bags are huge. Every in that stupid pattern. Oy. American Eagle is what most honors kids wear. While Hollister is what the regular people wear. Goth is also pretty big.....

Livestrong bracelets are kinda leaving the scene here. Big fake diamond rings are in now.

Pink is for everyone. Guys and popped collars are too.

Fake looking highlights are dumb, but in. Look like zebras but ehh....

Mini skirts and old navy flipflops are musts.

As far as clubs go >> Student Council rules the school. If you are in, you are known by all. Our football sux so school spirit is ehhh...unless you are in StuCo. Most everyone is in something. Very few who aren't. Oo and everyone here pretty much goes to the same colleges. Community colleges might I add. They are so dumb. Most of them anyways. In my class there are two of us who will prolly go to WUSTL and a kid who will go to the Air Force Academy but other than that it is pretty much Mizzou or CC.

A lot of kids at my school are overweight. Esp. in honors classes. Not fat, just a lil chubby. Hollister girls are always sticks!

hm.. well, i go to an all-girls catholic school in the middle of a higher-middle-class suburbia 15 miles outside San Francisco. We're required to wear uniforms, but i LOVE wearing legwarmers on cold days. (it's a bit of a trend, i guess.)

-BIG sunglasses. with the large frames. fits nicely on top of heads.
-80% of my school has dyed hair. 50% of them are badly done.
-designer bags. Fake ones, too.
-livestrong/some other cause bracelets
-vans slip-ons / chucks
-abercrombie. period. (at least most of them)
-oh LORD, Ugg boots. and their knock-offs

fridays are our free dress days, but 3/4ths of my school dont care about what they wear anyway (since who are we trying to impress, our 2 male teachers?) and just wear sweats to school.
