Tri-Sport, Terrific Kid w/ Low SSAT...HELP!

My daughter is tri sport (Soccer, Ski Racing, Lacrosse) and A Student. Interviews extremely well, great recommendations, school leader etc. BIG issue, however, with SSAT of 43%! This is NOT reflective of her achievement to date but an obvious issue when the averages for HADES are in the 80-90% range. Anyone care to offer an encouraging word or should we just focus on high achievement in a top ranked public school system?

are you considering taking it again? I think if her other materials are above average, SSAT wouldn’t hurt that much. do you need FA? because that’s when everything starts to matter a little more.

If her grades are superior than it won’t be as bad…though still a HUGE issue for the most part

i dont agree with candidate… my friends who attend bs who ik are spectacular athletes say that their minimun was like 65… my friend scored like a 69. nd he said he had the lowest score. he attends sps, although a great school has a lower ssat score rate then exeter or andover or deerfield. id consider reatking

I implied no retake, that the current score was bad. If you retake and get a score that’s higher then great!

Question, did you just recieve the SSAT scores from the January 9th testing date? I would say keep pushing on. I bet she has put a lot of work and effort in to this application process and you never know what can happen. Have you gotten any encouraging words from the coaches about her sports? In my opinion, It would probably be her best option to retake the SSAT’s it time allows for it.

REALLY appreciate the candor and quick replies. This was her 2nd time with the test but the scores were reversed from the 1st time 2x better to 2x worse. Shows a real issue with the standardized test taking. She has hand written notes from the soccer, lacrosse and ski (where they offer it) coaches expressing their interest. However, they didn’t know about the scores.

Honestly, a `60 is going to bar you from most HADES schools unless your Ec’s, interviews are almost godly. So a 40 would almost certainly knock her out of the running, even if she is a tri-sport athlete

Hello i just got my scores back and i am very dissappointed in them
