TRIALS 2010 Pre Law Summer Program

I applied the first week possible also and thought I had a pretty strong application. I dont know if all the emails have been sent out but im still hoping…

The website says ‘Applicants will be notified of a decision by April 15th’ so I assume they will be sending out denial letters as well.

The people who get in I would also like to know what school you go to. I already saw based on other posts that 1 person is from the University of Florida. Last year I remember two people being from the UC schools and one from Stanford. My problem with Trials is they say they look for people from smaller schools who don’t typically send students to Harvard or New York law school but these schools have to send multiple people to each.

Not trying to say you don’t deserve to go because to be 1 of 60 of 5,000 means you can write your own ticket anywhere in my book. I just think trials should not claim to do something i’m not sure they actually do. I could easily be wrong though.

So if you get in post which school you attended as an undergrad.

Personally I went to community college and then transferred to a small state university. I figured that would be a plus. Obviously University of Florida is much harder to get into and the work is also much harder I’m sure.

I made it as a finalist and I attend the University of Florida also.

Thank you for applying to Trials and for sharing your story with us. We regret to inform you that we are unable to offer you a place in the 2010 Trials class. This decision was not easy: we received thousands of applications for just twenty spots, making acceptance to Trials more competitive than admissions to many of the leading law schools to which we are hoping to broaden access. In most cases, our decisions reflect not our assessment of an individual candidate’s ability to succeed in law school, but rather the hard fact that we received applications from many, many more qualified and deserving applicants than we could possibly accommodate.

While we do appreciate that this decision may be a disappointment for you, we hope you will continue to pursue your interest in the law. Reading the personal statements of so many enthusiastic, outstanding applicants has inspired our great confidence in the next generation of lawyers. This admission cycle has only strengthened our conviction that increased diversity and inclusiveness at law schools will result in an influx of talent and energy to the legal profession.

We wish you continued success in all of your future academic and professional endeavors.

Sincerely,

Charles S. Loxton
Associate Director

vb0515, have you scheduled your interview?

GreenMob, congrats!

sent you a message

And now we wait…

who else thinks their interview could’ve gone better?

I think my interview went very well. I could have sworn that I heard/read somewhere that they were going to let us know by May 1? Did I make that up? I am constanly looking at my phone and checking on here for any updates…

I was told during my interview that they wanted to have the final cut completed by May 1st but it wasn’t a concrete date. I just want to find out one way or another because I put my whole summer on hold for the program.

wwod2010, that’s great! I guess you have less to worry about. I know my interview could’ve gone better, so I’m feeling less and less confident with every passing minute.

And you’re not mistaken. The original email said we’d find out by May 1st:

"Thank you for applying to the 2010 session of Trials.

At this time your application is complete. If we require any additional information we will be in touch.

You can expect to learn of an admissions decision by May 1, 2010. If you have any questions in the meantime, please contact us.

Thank you again for your interest in Trials. We look forward to reading your application!"

But it sounds like we’re going to find out sometime this week. Those accepted into Trials last year received decisions on Tuesday May 5th, 2009.

Hey. I mean my interview was a really good conversation. There were some parts I wish I re-worded but overall think I conveyed my message. But ya I noticed that last year they found out around this time (today and tomorrow)… just wondering if anyone heard anything from them? Cause I noticed someone last year talked to them and said they were letting everyone know by a certain date…

I don’t mind waiting just would like to know about when they will let us know so I can stop staring at my phone :stuck_out_tongue: lol

I’d be surprised if we heard today. Since they finished up interviews on Friday, I’m assuming they’re going to need at least a day to deliberate, if not a couple of days.

Well, we’ll find out before the 7th. And looking at last year’s thread, those who said the interview went well got into the program.

Hopefully tomorrow will be the day. At least one of us should statistically make it so good luck to everyone.

I am hoping they let us know today as well, but def think they will notify everyone by Friday (or hope)

But glad to hear I am not the only one who is freaking out about this, I swear it is almost impossible to do anything else as I am constantly staring at my phone making sure I don’t miss a call.

But it looks like the notified people in the early evening, so maybe I’ll take a break from puppy guarding my phone lol

every time the phone rings i jump. nothing so far, i’m guessing no one else has heard anything either?

No word here. Back to finals!

I haven’t heard anything either. I have a feeling tomorrow is going to be the day.

So… if we find out today, it looks like it should be around 5pm EST

anyone want to email Elizabeth Cohan for a status update?
