Tricky Rush situation, can someone please give advice?

"–they will ask this other guy whats his deal…he WILL have to lie of course.

this lie he tells won’t have to do anything with you being semi-gay, what ever lie or w/e he says most likely wont hurt you."

I wouldn’t bet on that. The guy might claim that the OP made an unreciprocated pass at him.

Yeah, I did make a new account because this is a rather embarrassing situation, but I accidentally posted logged into my other account. oh well.

I ended up getting invited to hang out tonight at the house, which could either go REALLY well or really badly. Hopefully the blackmailer won’t be there, and if he is hopefully he won’t say anything until AFTER I leave. It would be great if, like rsala004 said, he won’t say anything and back down from his bluff BUT I have a feeling he will say what northstarmom said, that I made a pass or came onto him.

That would be bad, but it would be REALLY bad if he said it while I was at the house, and they would tell me to leave right there or worse. But hopefully he won’t be there or he won’t say anything until after I’m gone. This is a rather dangerous situation I’m in, but I like this frat and this frat likes me so I have to give it a shot!

By any chance, did you happen to save the “blackmail” emails? If so, you might want to consider printing them and sticking them in your pocket. This way if the subject comes up, you will have printed proof of the real story rather than the jerk’s version.

Well, the blackmailer sent me one last message saying, “They still think you want in, remove yourself before I say something. One last chance.”

And in what is a ballsy and probably stupid move, I wrote to him :

“Listen, I already told the rush chair and the president that one of the members was uncomfortable with me joining. And they told me point blank to disregard whoever was “blackballing” or preventing me from showing up…so if you’re going to tell them whatever it is you want to say, tell them now.”

So I basically called him on his bluff to his face. So it sucks that he has an opportunity to present his side of the story without me being there, but I do not think I could have done that if I was at the party tonight and he tried to denounce me in front of all the brothers.

I don’t think this will turn out well…

and *** he just wrote me back and said “Congratulations, I was just testing your integrity, I wanted to make sure you weren’t rushing for superficial reasons and I can see that’s not the case. If I see you tonight I’ll act as if I never met you.”

omg omg is this a trap?
or did I successfully stand up to him?
and NOW what do I tell the other brothers when they want to know what’s going on?

Don’t worry about it. I doubt this guy is going to say a word.

I’d personally take it to the other brothers, just because that’s a terrible thing of him to do.

I seriously feel like this is all bs. I have never heard any house or chapter do this before during rush. Maybe during pledgeship but not rush.
