Hi, so at my school spring fraternity rush has been going on for exactly seven days. During that period, I have focused all of my energy on one house. My reason? I like the guys the most. I think that is the most important factor in any fraternity. However, I have already seen 4 people get bids (a lot of great guys, I would love to be pledges with them), so that has got me nervous. I literally cannot see myself in any other house (ive visited around 90 percent of the houses at my school). I like the guys, but the guys arent that enthusiastic about me (in my defense, they arent really enthusiastic about anyone). Is there anything i can do? I have a feeling that rush is going to end this friday, so my mind has been racing all day/ every day. I really really want to get a bid (by the way, I havent done anything weird, Im a normal guy with an accent because my parents are european). Any tips you guys could give me? Literally anything. Should I meet with some of the guys during regular times (i dont know where I would meet them up at or what I would talk about)? Is it really important to talk a lot to the rush chairs? Also should I say this to the rush chair/actives? “yeah ive visited other houses, but the guys at this fraternity are so much cooler/better”? (that is the truth, I feel like i could spend a great four years with them). Anyway, thanks in advance
What you are doing is called suicide rushing. Generally most people in greek life advise against it because if you don’t get a bid at the one fraternity you won’t get one anywhere else. If you really don’t want to pledge any other house then it’s fine.
