everybody here loves trinity… this is so cool!!! :D

Gloworm- does your daughter find it hard to get around the city without a car? do you know how safe the area surrounding the campus is? [often at times i hear about great campuses, and extremely dangerous surroundings =S ]

She has walked around the area often. It is safe. There are also bus stops to bring one to various places, but many students also have cars. She will have a car next year, living off campus. That’s another nice thing about TU. Many LACs require one to live 4 years on campus. At TU one has the option to stay on or off campus for the last year.

I love the trinity love on this thread!!! I just hope that I get in. Does anybody know how the EA decisions will be sent? I’m an international, so how do i get it?

SAME! i hope we both get in ea =D

admissions decisions come out feb. 1st. [lol, and trinity in focus in jan 30]

thanks glo!

I got the Trinity in Focus email too. Is that good sign (I really really hope so!)?

I don’t think so… I’ve been getting those emails/flyers ever since I sent them my SAT scores back in June.

GRINCHDAD:

I see your daughter applied to Hope (in Holland MI). My daughter is a junior there and loves it. My son is a sophomore in HS and just starting to look at schools. He is interested in Trinity. Did you visit Hope? Can you compare your takes on the 2 schools?

Thanks.

Rhumbob:

Direct from the daughter…“we visited Hope last year. Both are tight knit communities with a strong reputation academically. Both are strong in the sciences, although Trinity seems to have a stronger reputation overall. I like Trinity for the fit academically and that it feels like home. Plus, I can play golf year round.”

If we were staying in San Antonio (rather than moving to Alaska), I honestly think she would pick Hope over Trinity. She did the full tour, classroom visit, spend the night in the dorms at both places and had similar experiences. My impression is that Hope has a more vibrant faith community, but Trinity has pockets of this as well.

Good luck to your son. We have a HS sophomore as well. I will be thrilled if she decides to go to Hope College, because it seems like a very cool place. Does your daughter feel any ill effects from the state of the economy in Michigan?

No direct impact from the MI economy. She is a political science major so I believe the economy is a big topic of conversation. Born and raised in Northern CA, I think the cold MI winter has the biggest impact on her…she will be coming back west after graduation.

Son really likes wrestling and Hope doesn’t have a team. Trinity comes up in the US News database as having wrestling but I don’t see that listed on the schools website…we will have to look into it.

San Antonio is supposed to be a great town. I suspect my son will look closely at Trinity.

San Antonio is a great town and the Trinity kids have as much or as little insulation from the city as they need. Austin is about 90 minutes away and seems to be a very active scene for that age group. Don’t know about wrestling, but the Athletic Facilities are nice and up to date. Women’s Volleyball, Soccer and Basketball hang out near the top of D3. Football does pretty well too and most recently is known for the “play” that was recognized by ESPN. Not much in the way of bad winter here (although as i type this, it is currently 19 in San Antonio).

I’m from north Texas (near Dallas), I’ve applied to 12 other schools, and I applied for the Distinguished (non-science!) Scholarship.

I love Trinity; I just wish it wasn’t in Texas! San Antonio is my second favorite Texas city, and the school is so close-knit and neat.
