If you've applied to Trinity EA and have not received a decision by mail, check your email.

D received an email from Trinity Friday Dec. 13 saying she's admitted. Apparently, decision letters have been posted but they also sent emails to be sure everyone got their responses by the 15th as promised. Her admission message went to junk mail and it was a couple days later when she finally saw it. She was thrilled to discover it there.

If you are applying to Trinity, the school publishes very specific details about merit scholarships. You can see exactly what your scholarship will be here:

D was accepted and received Dean’s scholarship. This was especially nice since our S is a Junior at Trinity and has run a few marathons with Dean Tuttle. Such an amazing school and cannot recommend it enough. Great student body, amazing administration, strong academics, great support and wonderful parent interaction. I wish they could broadcast nationally how great this school is, but it seems to be a wonderfully kept secret.

My son got accepted, received the Murchison scholarship, 21k / year, with the chance to compete (don’t know what that means) for one of 20 full tuition scholarships on Trinity’s Tower Scholars Weekend in March.

^ sounds like our sons applied to some of the same places, also invited to Tower Scholars (definitely going, booked flights yesterday) and waiting for that envelope from LU. Are you guys midwest?

I went to UT and my son goes to Trinity. In my mind there is no comparison between the two schools. Go to UT if you want big parties and football weekends - go to Trinity if you want to know your professors and get a great education. You can make a case that UT is less expensive, but Trinity has very good financial support and it is far easier to graduate in 4 years from Trinity.

As an out of state mom who’s D is seriously considering Trinity, thank you for that point of view CanuckHorn! Would love to hear more from the parents perspective…Good, Bad, and Ugly

^ same here, especially the ugly because so far we’ve heard nothing but good! Any input on how an OOS student fits in here? Assuming the majority are within driving distance.

I’ll chime in. My daughter graduated in 2011. The good–just about everything. The ugly-the construction in her last year that is now a beautiful new science center. The bad-it went by too quickly. Midwesterner.

She is now in a fully funded Ph.D. program, lots closer to home. She spent her junior year abroad in 2 different countries.

OOS is not really so big as it seems. Many of those students who have TX addresses have actually lived in lots of places outside the US at one time or other in their lives. I’ll be happy to answer? via PM, but I’m sure lots has changed.

DS got in as well, with a nice scholarship and the March invitation. Pre-med. He has a lot of apps still out…but this school is a really well kept secret. Cant imagine why. Would love to hear the negatives…fyi, he is not the football frat rat type…

Hey guys…I was curious to see if anyone knows what this Tower Scholars Day entails. How many full scholarships are even available? How exactly would we compete for them? I live out of state so I’m trying to decide whether or not to accept the invite to attend. Thanks!
