*** Trinity University Class of 22 Admissions ***

It worked on my D! She really liked the personal touch. “(The other school I’ve been accepted to) hasn’t sent me anything like this!”

I got one too! I thought my essay wasn’t that great but apparently it stood out to my adcom lol

We got a Christmas card, but no box. Interesting?

Maybe today, @Booajo. I think you are further away geographically.

Yes @ShrimpBurrito that is my guess. I’ll be interested to see how S18 reacts. He did open his card–and much college mail goes straight to recycling these days.

The box finally arrived at our house today, but we are probably the furthest away from San Antonio. Hand-written notes are great, and the tiger mascot on the box is cute. @Booajo , you should have received yours now, right?

@bogeyorpar yep we got ours on Tuesday I think? Maybe Wednesday! It’s still on the counter. S18 has declared he will make “no decisions until last minute.” Kill me now.

My daughter got in early action and offered 25k (Murchison) and is going down for scholars weekend thing. Anyone know the odds of getting full tuition scholarship? She ha a 4.0 unweighted gpa, 1500 sat, national merit commendation and 14 ap classes. She does have ec’s But it’s not like she’s written a book or funded a charity. Thanks!

@freakiestfern , from their website, it looks like they invite 200-300 students to scholarship weekend, and only ~20 will be awarded. So 10-15% chance.

I’m wondering if they still consider the academic stats when evaluating scholarship candidates, or is it purely based on their performance on the scholarship day? Anyone has insight?

Is anyone applying to the science scholarship as well?

Question for students already attending Trinity and received one of school scholarship. 40K (tuition) minus $20K (scholarship) = 20K year is doable. Does anyone know scholarship is guarantee for 4 years? What does student have to hold GPA above like 3.5 to receive 20K for all 4 years or is this one time Freshman Scholarship?

Form another thread it seems that a GPA of 2.5 is required to keep the scholarship. This however is too important of a question to only get confirmation on this forum. I’d recommend to get clarification from the school.

@texaggie

I’m a current student
The current policy is that it is a renewable scholarship that can be renewed every semester for eight semesters, so a $20k scholarship (which is the annual amount, not the per semester amount) would end up being $80k over the four years provided that the student remains enrolled as a full time student and keeps their GPA above 2.5.

I agree with WilliamNYC above though, so here is the Trinity webpage that describes this policy:

Does anyone know when we can expect to receive a need-based financial aid offer from Trinity?

Congrats to all the fine students and their wonderful offers.

My S is currently in the middle of his Junior year and I can remember how excited we all were 3 years ago.

One thing I wanted to share with all the parents and prospective Tigers. Trinity has roughly 2400 students, but has an endowment of over $1.5B. I can only assume that has increased substantially with last year’s market performance.

The upshot of this is that Trinity has the 25th highest per student endowment of ANY school in the country. More importantly, they SPEND it. New buildings, new equipment, and they boast that they have never lost a faculty member that they wanted to retain based on salary. If they want a professor, they pay them–very well.

But the best use of that enormous endowment is to drive the cost of tuition down approximately 50% for EVERY STUDENT, before scholarships and need-based FA. That keeps TU a relative bargain in a very competitive landscape. So you are getting an $80K education for $40K, even if you pay full boat.

Good luck to all. TU is a fantastic, very underrated school. They are very much on the upswing, and your degree is going to be more valuable in 10 years than it is even now.

@ColdinMinny Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts. If you are willing to share, I am interested more about your son’s experience at Trinity and the degree he is pursuing.

Does anyone know when we can expect need-based financial aid offer from Trinity University?

My son is an EA2 applicant. Trinity told me financial aid awards would be mailed to the student’s permanent address in mis-February. I don’t know if EA1 admits hear sooner.

@TXDAD2018 Thank you for this information!

Anybody has any idea when the EA2 acceptance notices will come out? Possibly before Feb 15?
