My son got admitted today under EA2 with a $12.5 K/year scholarship. I am so proud of him. Good luck to all.
congrats @TXDAD2018 ! I am rushing home to check with my son who also applied EA2.
Accepted! Very happy!
I got accepted EA2!
Sorry, missed the post from @outthedoor earlier.
My S is a Junior CS Major at TU and really, really likes it. Fell in with a great group of friends, and loves the CS Department. He has blossomed and grown so much in 2.5 years. Would not hesitate to recommend TU to others.
Good luck and Congrats to all the EA2 Admittees!
Hey guys, trinity was my safety but I got rejected because my SAT scores didn’t get to them for some reason. I loved San Antonio and wanted to go there… Is there any way I can fix this?
@jaclynoo sorry to hear. Send an email to admissions to plead your case. If you can, add some evidence that you send the SAT on time.
Have any EA2 folks heard about need based financial aid yet! TIA
@ColdinMinny My son was accepted to CS for fall. Can you elaborate a bit on what your son likes about the department? It seems like a small department. Does he feel it offers all the classes he would like to take? You said your son found a good group of friends, are they CS students and do the CS students mingle much with students from other departments? Just trying to get a sense of the social life at Trinity. I’d appreciate any insight you might have.
@stardustmom Our S has friends both in and out of the CS Department. Lewis is his favorite professor, but he really enjoys almost the entire staff. Fogarty is hard, but brilliant. He has learned a ton at TU.
The CS Dep’t does have social stuff for the majors like gaming and pizza on Friday nights. Also, our S has enjoyed the competitive programming team where they typically work in groups of 3 to solve programming challenges. That involves a small amount of travelling on weekends.
I would strongly encourage your student to do an overnight visit and to sit in on some actual CS classes. We have found the CS faculty to be very welcoming to prospective students and willing to answer questions.
Good luck!
Thanks so much for the additional information @ColdinMinny
@stardustmom - My D (sophomore) is not a CS major at Trinity, but has a bunch of friends who are. They have amazing internships, even after freshman year. If still deciding, that is something to ask about too. It’s impressive.
