Trojan Transfer Plan via 4 Year College

Hi, I was offered the Trojan Transfer Plan to hopefully gain admission into USC for the start of the 2020 school year. I was also admitted to UCSD and UCR which are my top choices but I’d rather go to USC as it’s my dream school. But so far, in regards to my financial state, it’s uncertain if I can comfortably afford the USC tuition or if I have a change of heart about going there.

It was recommended to me that I could attend UCSD/UCR as my first school then transfer into USC. And in the case that I don’t want to go to USC for any reason I could simply stay in UCSD or UCR. This plan seems the most secure to me and was recommended by other posters I’ve seen on here and Reddit, but the only problem is that apparently going to a 4-year as a supplementary school is discouraged but I’m not really open to going to a community college nor have I even registered for one.

From the email sent to me by the USC Office of Admissions about the Trojan Transfer Plan:
“We do not recommend you make a promise to attend a four-year institution you intend to break. If you plan to transfer away from a four-year college or university, you should enroll in the extension program, or in another visiting-student status. Your success in higher education depends on your level of engagement. We believe you will be fully engaged if you are open about your plans.”

I’m not sure what the extension program is or what they mean by “visiting-student status” so any clarification would be appreciated.

Thanks for any advice, I want to do CS at viterbi

@dysdummyish This has been discussed many times so here ya go.

A four year is 100% fine, I would never give up or change plans to attend a good four year if you have that option. USC can’t outwardly promote attending a four year with the intention of leaving, that would not be politically correct with other universities. So they “suggest” the cc route to appease other universities (not make them mad). But the advisor you meet with will tell you in person that attending a four year is fine. Frankly, that is one of the ideal situations for TTP. Go to another great four year and if it works out stay, if not, apply for TTP by Feb 1 (after having signed up for TTP and attended meeting, etc the summer prior).

They also cannot tell you to attend a CC on a maybe!

Also suggest you read through thread linked below, can start on post 186, it starts 2019 discussion or can read through entire thing for more info…
